About Free Belarusian
A free, open platform dedicated to preserving and teaching the Belarusian language to English speakers worldwide.
The Mission
Belarusian is a beautiful, deeply historical language, but it is currently classified as "vulnerable" by UNESCO. One of the biggest hurdles for international learners is the severe lack of resources: most materials for learning Belarusian are written in Russian, creating a barrier for the rest of the world.
Free Belarusian was built to bridge this gap. Our goal is to provide a modern, accessible, and completely free tool for English speakers to discover the language and culture of Belarus. Learning this language is not just an academic exercise; it is an act of cultural preservation.
How to Learn Here
1. Read
Explore our library of bilingual stories graded by difficulty. Read in Belarusian and easily translate the words you don't understand.
2. Save Words
When logged in, you can click on any unfamiliar word to save it. Saved words turn green across all stories, tracking your progress.
3. Master
Head over to the Flashcards page. Your saved words will be there waiting for you to practice and memorize through active recall.
Support the Project
This project is built with passion, but keeping it alive has real costs. It takes about €100 per year to maintain the servers, database, and domain name. If you believe in this mission and want to help us keep the platform ad-light and free forever, consider making a small donation.
